Recap

Problems:
1. physics puzzle based game (trine) VS jumping and killing action based game (mario\sonic)
2. game goal is love VS game goal is help king (loyalty) VS game goal is save the world VS ALL OF THESE 3! [I vote for the last]

I think we all agree:
1. The main guy caries a funny sidekick
2. The sidekick can fly and magically provides de 2d/3d mechanic

Damn can't remember more stuff... help me out guys, fill the lists

  1. I dont know how far this will go tomorrow but at this point in time this is how I idealy see the game.

    1. I like the idea of carrying the Kings magicaly decapitated head. Returning him to his throne seems like a simple enough final objective. LOYALTY! It works nicely and adds a humorous twist!

    2. By using the head in various ways the player can enter the seperate 2D/3D perspectives. Perhaps to enter 2D top down the player throws the head in to the air.etc

    3. Idealy I think we should concentrate on it being a physics puzzle based game but add little bits of action - much like trine.

    4. Perhaps the player can carry a sword and shield but due to having carry the head only has one hand free to use either. When combat is involved maybe the player might deside to drop the head and use both items to defend it.etc This opens up even more possibilities. The head may even roll away if not placed on level ground =P

Please let me know if you agree.etc

  2. Personally i find puzle games annoying even though I still play them, i think it would be more appealing to have the game mostly action utilising 2d/3d with a few puzzle rather than the other way around.
The idea that weapons behave differently in different viewports i think is quite clever, as well as enemies having weakpoints in different viewports.

so Fast action vs puzzle solving? i say more mario/sonic ish

    Game goal seems good.

weapon ideas, avoiding a generic hack n slash i think it would be nice to look at mass effect/star wars for some ideas on how to use magic in different ways. push pull crush slam etc.
i remember crystal cronicles on the gamecube one player had to carry a crystal ball with them everywhere that you had to drop to fight but you had to stay within the crystals radius else you would die. main thing i remember was it having a fun way to cast spells too.
